A Celebration of Life service for 98-year-old Joann Karschnik of Trimont, Minnesota, formerly of Mountain Lake, Minnesota will be held at 11 a.m. this Friday, March 14, 2014 at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Trimont. Pastor Mark Anderson will be the officiant. Interment will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Kimball Township, rural Alpha, Minnesota.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 13, 2014 at the Kramer Family Funeral Home in Trimont and one hour prior to the services at the church on Friday.
Joann Karschnik passed away on Monday evening, March 10, 2014 at One Mayo Health System in St. James, Minnesota.

Joann Rafnson was born on May 21, 1915 in Minneota, Minnesota, the daughter of Olafur and Sarah (Snidahl) Rafnson. She received her education in Minneota. In January 1935, Joann was united in marriage to Herman Karschnik at Minneota. After their marriage, they moved to a farm in Kimball Township, near Mountain Lake.
Herman died in 1949. Joann moved into Mountain Lake where she raised her family and was employed at a local restaurant for many years. In 1981, she moved to Trimont to be closer to her daughter. Joann was employed for Sophie Anderson as her caretaker for five years. She greatly enjoyed crocheting, playing cards, square dancing, watching television, reading and being with her family and friends and sharing her peanut M & Ms.
Joann is survived by her four children, Jeanne and Gay Hiebert of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Leslie Karschnik and Jan of Grand Junction, Colorado, Joyce (Bill) Lohrenz of Mountain Lake and Glenda (Jim) Sinn of rural Trimont; 12 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Clara DeRoode of Marshall, Minnesota; nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
Along with her parents, Olafur and Sarah Karschnik, Joann was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Karschnik; four grandchildren and eight siblings and other relatives.
