Social media site “Yik Yak” was used
A 17-year-old teenaged boy from Jeffers was formally charged today (Wednesday, October 14), accused of making terroristic threats to Fairmont Area Schools, reports http://www.keyc.com/. This felony charge carries with it a maximum sentence of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine. The case is in the juvenile court system.
The criminal complaint says the teenager, who has ties to the Fairmont area, admitted to using the social media site “Yik Yak” this past weekend to threaten a “Columbine”-style school attack.
That threat prompted extra police patrols and many parents to remove their children from school.
He was arrested Monday evening, October 12, by Fairmont law enforcement officers
