Dennis C. Frederickson

Funeral services for 86-year-old Dennis C. Frederickson of Windom, Minnesota, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 22, 2017, at the United Methodist Church in Windom. The church is located at 974 6th Street.

Interment will be in Delafield Township, Jackson County.

Visitation will be at LaCanne Family Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 21, 2017, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The funeral home is located at 2280 6th Avenue. A second visitation will be held at the church the day of the service from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

Dennis Frederickson was recently admitted to the Windom Area Hospital in Windom and passed away there on Thursday morning, November 16, 2017.

Dennis Conan Frederickson was born on October 10, 1931, in rural Delafield Township, Jackson County, Minnesota, the son of the late Harold Clifford and Iris Theo (Blewett) Frederickson. He received his education in the Windom Public Schools; graduating in the Class of 1949. He then served his country in the Minnesota National Guard during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged and went on further his education at Macalester College in St. Paul, Minnesota. He rejoined the Guard later after returning from Uganda.

On April 19, 1953, Dennis was united in marriage to Mary Lou Zuelke at the former Methodist Church in Windom. They began their married life in Windom until 1959, when they moved to Jackson, Minnesota for three years. They also lived in Mankato, Minnesota from 1962 to 1966 and for seven years in Kampala, Uganda, returning to Windom in 1973.

Through the years, Dennis was an Ag Credit Consultant for Land Bank, PCA, USAID and a realtor for Henry Realty, an auctioneer and then helped start and later worked as manager for SMAC/Ethanol 2000 (POET) in Bingham Lake, Minnesota until his retirement in 1996.

His work overseas included time in Uganda, Ethiopia, Egypt, Pakistan, Botswana and the Dominican Republic.

On February 12, 2000, Mary Lou passed away. After her death, Dennis remained living in Windom.

Dennis was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church in Windom where he ushered and was a member of the United Methodist Men. Dennis was also very involved in his community as the Mayor of Windom for two terms, a Minnesota State Representative in the state legislature, a member of the American Legion Post #2016 in Windom and the Eagles Club, along with being president and member of the Windom Area Chamber of Commerce

He is survived by his three sons, Dean (Catherine) of Tea, South Dakota; Rick (Sue) Frederickson of Windom and Jeff Frederickson of Sauk Centre, Minnesota; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Judy (Bernie) Woizeschke of Windom and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents; wife, Mary Lou Frederickson; son, Gary Frederickson; daughter, Holly Frederickson and one brother, Ken Frederickson.
