Stanley Nelson

Funeral services for 69-year-old Stanley Nelson of Butterfield, Minnesota, will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday morning, September 22, 2017, at First Lutheran Church in Butterfield. The church is located at 450 2nd Street South.

Visitation will be held at the church the day of the service from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Stanley Nelson passed away on Thursday, September 14, 2017 at Sogge Memorial Good Samaritan Home in Windom, Minnesota.

Stanley Raymond Nelson was born on December 16, 1947, the son of Joseph and Carol (Piotraschke) Nelson at the Windom Hospital. He grew up in Windom and attended Windom High School.

He met and married Pamela Kay Warling on April 29, 1983 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Stanley lived in Butterfield for 34 years and worked at Butterfield Foods for 23 years. He enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, fishing, archery, going to the races in Jackson and watching Nascar on TV. He never missed a Sunday watching the Minnesota Vikings play.

Stanley is survived by his wife, Pam of Butterfield; son, Shane (Amanda) of Albertville, Minnesota; step-daughter, Melissa Cords of St. James, Minnesota; three grandchildren, Trevor, Jaden and Colton; brother, Rick Nelson of Montesano, Washington and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded by his parents, Joseph and Carol Nelson; son, Travis Nelson; siblings, Brenda and her husband, Melvin Gjerstad and Burt Nelson and his dog, Roxie.
