Butterfield Veterans Memorial fundraising underway

Committee to hold pancake breakfast Sunday, January 28

 

THE BUTTERFIELD VETERANS Memorial Committee will be holding a Pancake Breakfast on Sunday, January 28, in the Butterfield Community Center, with from serving 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. A free will donation will be collected, going towards the installation of a Veterans Memorial in Butterfield City Park, as depicted in the sketch pictured above. Jeremy Hall of Hall Welding of Butterfield designed the memorial, and will also fabricate it, in addition to the bookend benches, on in memory of Gus Schulte to the left and on the right, in memory of Gerald Witte. Both memorial benches are courtesy of the families. The memorial itself will feature the state of Minnesota with the American flag emblazoned on it. Across the front will be imprinted the words, “Honoring all Who Served,” as well as “All Gave some . . . Some Gave All.” At the bottom will be the insignias of all of the branches of the military. The memorial will be surrounded by Minnesota’s State Flag with the crest of the Minnesota National Guard on the flagpole, the American Flag and the POW/MIA Flag, the POW/MIA symbol attached to the pole.
