Dennis ‘Denny’ Dunker

A Celebration of Life Service for 62-year-old Dennis “Denny” Dunker of Willmar, Minnesota (formerly of Alpha, Minnesota) will be at 1 p.m. on Friday afternoon, June 16, 2017, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Alpha with Pastor Rick Bremseth officiating. The church is located at 225 Main Street.

Burial will be in Cedar Lutheran Cemetery, located at 2121-2199 30th Avenue in rural Trimont, Minnesota.

Visitation will be at the church the day of the service from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Denny Dunker passed away on Saturday evening, June 10, 2017 at Colonial Manor in Lakefield, Minnesota.

Dennis “Denny” Otto Dunker was born on May 28, 1955, the son of Otto and LaVonne (Russenberger) Dunker in Fairmont, Minnesota. He was baptized and later confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Alpha. Dennis lived in Alpha and received his primary school education there. He later attended Jackson High School, graduating with the Class of 1974.

Dennis served in the United States Navy and received a medical discharge, after which he worked an assortment of jobs in the area. He moved to Willmar to receive care and assistance with his multiple sclerosis, which he had for over 20 years.  He made wonderful friends (“family”) while living there.

Dennis just recently moved to Colonial Manor in Lakefield to “come home.” He was an avid NASCAR (National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing) fan. He liked taking his wheelchair around Willmar visiting sites and shopping.

He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Linnet and Ken Shover of Alpha;  nephews, Troy Shover and wife, Angie, Todd Shover and wife, Tara, Timothy Palm and wife, Lisa and Christopher Palm and wife, Stephanie; nieces, Jill Shover, Amy (Shover) Ballard, Teresa (Palm) and husband Bruce Burns and Candance (Palm) Eads and many other relatives and friends.

Dennis was preceded in death by her parents, Otto and LaVonne Dunker; a brother, Robert Palm and wife, Bertha; nephews, Bruce and Brian Shover; niece, Sara Shover and other relatives.
