The third annual Cottonwood County Spelling Bee – for county residents age 50 or better – will be held this Saturday, April 29, beginning at 10 a.m. at the Business, Arts and Recreation Center (BARC) in Windom. The BARC is located at 1012 5th Avenue.

Registration begins 30 minutes prior to the event.

The Bee is free – and spectators are welcome.

Coordinating the Senior Spelling Bee is Jackie Jurgens, of Windom. contact her at 831-4976 with any questions.

The winner of the inaugural event in 2015 was now 93-year-old Annette Dick of Mountain Lake. She topped the field of six county “seniors” at the microphone onstage to showcase their spelling skills. She decided to take up the challenge of the Bee, and encourages other seniors, if they want, to participate – even just for the fun of it.
