She was baptized and confirmed in the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Lakefield.. After graduating from Lakefield High School, she attended St. Cloud Teacher’s College in St. Cloud, Minnesota, and later completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education at Mankato State College in Mankato, Minnesota (today, Minnesota State University-Mankato).

Minnie’s first teaching job was with the Windom Public Schools. She met Addison, who was also teaching there at the time and they were united in marriage on August 16, 1947 at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Lakefield. They made their home in Windom and were blessed with two children, Bill and Janet. She later accepted a teaching position with Mountain Lake Public School as a fourth-grade teacher, where she taught until retirement.

Minnie retired from teaching after 25 dedicated years. Upon retirement, she and Addison divided their time between their home in Windom and their home in McAllen, Texas. They enjoyed the winter months golfing, as well as traveling to many destinations.

She volunteered on numerous occasions, and especially enjoyed making lefse for the church bazaar. She was also a member of the American Association of University Women (AAUW), the Tourist Club and a longtime member of the Windom Country Club.

Minnie was an avid sports fan. She loved to golf, and played well into her later years. She also enjoyed her books on tape, baking, socializing over coffee or dinner with friends, and more recently, playing cards and Bingo at Remick Ridge in Windom. She will be remembered as having a natural caregiving spirit. Throughout her lifetime, she offered her kindness and heartfelt gifts to her family, friends, and students.
