Doris Wallert

A Celebration of Life visitation for 73-year-old Doris Wallert of Windom, Minnesota will be held on Wednesday, March 15, 2017, at LaCanne Family Funeral Home from 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. The funeral home is located at 2280 6th Avenue.

Interment will be in Butterfield City Cemetery at a later date.

Doris Wallert passed away on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at Mayo Clinic Health Systems-Mankato.

Doris Luella Wallert was born on January 20, 1944, the daughter of Bert and Hazel (Hystad) Smith. She grew up on a farm south of Willmar, Minnesota. Doris wa,s the oldest of three girls, with an older brother. She attended country school until sixth grade, then Willmar High School, from which she graduated. After graduation, she worked as a telephone operator.

On December 8, 1962, Doris was united in marriage to Francis Wallert. They lived in Olivia, Minnesota until 1967, when they and their four boys moved to Mountain Lake, Minnesota. In the 1970’s, Doris worked for Butterfield Foods in Butterfield, Minnesota; Toro in Windom and Land O’Lakes in Mountain Lake until the plant closed. For the last 24 years, she has been with the Toro Company.

Doris enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, playing Bingo and fishing.

 Doris’ health had been declining recently, and she was hospitalized at the Mayo Clinic Health Systems-Mankato.

Doris has seven children, four boys and three girls: Frank (Deb) Wallert of Mountain Lake, Dewayne Wallert of Truman, Minnesota, Mike (Tonya) Wallert of Mountain Lake, Gary (Brandy) Wallert of Fort Worth, Texas, Kathy (David) Gravley of Hanska, Minnesota, Karla (David) Ertz of Mountain Lake and Karyn Wallert of Mountain Lake; 23 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, mother, father and two sisters.
