B-OPS School Board selects three to interview for superintendent

Half-time interim post to run through the end of June

 

 

At a Monday, February 13 special meeting, the Butterfield-Odin Public School (B-OPS) School Board reviewed applicants for the post of half-time interim superintendent, and set two possible dates for candidate interviews.

Gleaned from the seven applicants was a trio of candidates. The three include Raymond Arsenault of Rochester, the former Executive Director at East Range Academy in Eveleth (and one of two finalists selected prior to the final choice of current half-time Interim Superintendent Allen Stoeckman); Barry Johnson of Henning and Bruce Aamot of Minneapolis, who served St. James Public Schools for 22 years as a 5-12 teacher, and from 2000-2011, as – elementary principal for one year, middle school principal for three years and nine years as high school principal.

Superintendent Stoeckman has resigned the position, effective March 1.

Board members set Thursday, February 16 as the tentative date for candidate interviews. The interviews will be held at 5 p.m., 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. The alternate date is Thursday, February 23, with the interviews times remaining the same.

Selected to serve as negotiators with the selected candidate were B-OPS School Board Treasurer Shannon Sykes and B-OPs School Board Director Leon Wenner.

At a previous meeting, the board had set the salary at $55,000 to $60,000, plus benefits.
