Leo Wiebe was reunited in Heaven with his beloved wife and family as he took his final quiet breath on Monday, October 31, 2016, just days away from his 90th birthday. He was a resident of the Good Samaritan Society of Mountain Lake-The Village of Mountain Lake, Minnesota.

Leo Henry Wiebe was born on November 6, 1926 on his family farm in Cottonwood County. He was the son of Elizabeth (Fast) and Henry Wiebe. Leo attended school in Bingham Lake and graduated after taking some time off to help on the family farm.

In school, he met his bride-to-be, and on September 17, 1949, Leo was united in marriage to Georgia Jean Wilson at the First Baptist Church of Windom. Leo also served his country from 1952-1955 as a soldier in the United States Army, and was able to travel to the land of his forefathers, Germany. After marriage, Georgia and Leo moved to the farmstead north of Bingham Lake and took on the life of dedicated farmers, and were blessed with four children in the years to follow.

Georgia and Leo were both longtime faithful members of Jeffers Baptist Church in rural Jeffers, and Leo and his son, Kevin, devoted many decades of their lives to mowing the yard and removing snow as a service to the congregation. Leo rode his John Deere tractor with great joy for many long years.

In April 2010, Leo’s health began to decline after the loss of his beloved wife of 58 years and his best friend/son, Kevin, and he entered the Good Samaritan Society of Mountain Lake-The Village for continued physical care.

Leo was a faithful, loyal man to his wife and protected and cared for her tirelessly through her final days on earth. He loved his farm, enjoyed his tractors, appreciated the simple things in life, shared his sly humor even among the nursing home staff and fought bravely and patiently through many trials and joys of life. He faced hardships with a quiet strength, was confident in his faith and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ to see him through as he placed his hope of salvation upon the Lord.

Leo was preceded in death by his wife, Georgia; sons, Gary, Kevin (Becky) and Keith (Diane) and infant grandchildren, Benjamin and Katherine; daughter, Diane (Wrase); brothers, Harold and Art Wiebe and sisters, Hilda Friesen, Sarah Nickel and Verna Rahn.

Leo is survived by his sister, Edna McLean of California; brother, Leroy (Pauline) of Windom, Minnesota; grandchildren Scott (Leah), Adam, Andrew (Lauren), Kayla, and Matthew Wiebe; four great-grandchildren of Scott’s and numerous nephews and nieces.
