betty-l-krahnFuneral services for Betty Lou Krahn of Springfield, Minnesota, will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday afternoon, November 10, 2016, at the United Methodist Church in Jeffers, Minnesota. The church is located at 411 E. Whited.

Visitation will be at the church the day of the funeral service from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.

LaCanne Family Funeral Service of Windom, Minnesota, is handling the arrangements.

Betty Lou Krahn passed away on Saturday evening, November 5, 2016, at St. John’s Lutheran Home in Springfield.

Betty Lou Krahn was born on February 16, 1927, in Mountain Lake, Minnesota, the daughter of the late Diedrich “Dick” and Alice Louise (Fisk) Ludeman. She was baptized at the Congregational Church in Comfrey, Minnesota and later confirmed at the United Methodist Church in Jeffers. Betty received her education from the Jeffers Public Schools, graduating with the Class of 1945. She then went on to attend business college in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Betty was united in marriage to LeRoy Manley Krahn on April 5, 1947, at the Wesley Temple in Minneapolis. This marriage was blessed with two children, Lynn and Terry. After marriage, Betty and LeRoy lived in Jeffers and Betty was the school secretary for a short time. They then lived in Fairmont and Storden before returning to Jeffers.

Throughout the years, besides being a loving mom and wife, Betty also worked as a part-time substitute clerk at the Jeffers Post Office, at Paramount Ceramics and Edward Jones.

LeRoy died on May 30, 1993, in Windom. After his death, Betty continued to live in Jeffers and wintered in Arizona. Three years ago, Betty moved to The Maples in Springfield. Due to her declining health, Betty recently became a resident of St. John’s Lutheran Home in Springfield.

Betty was a lifetime member of the United Methodist Church in Jeffers, a 57-year member of the Odegaard-Quade American Legion Auxiliary Post in Jeffers and the Worthington BPOE #2287. Betty and LeRoy enjoyed dancing and traveling, and even took a trip to England. They enjoyed family trips/vacations in their younger years. Betty enjoyed fishing with LeRoy, playing cards, along with reading in her free time. Betty was known as an excellent cook and baker and loved her children, friends, her Aunt Evalyn and her “adopted” grandkids.

Betty is survived by her two children, Lynn Arndt of Jeffers and Terry (Elaine) Krahn of Pine Island, Minnesota and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, LeRoy Krahn and son-in-law, Darryl Dean Arndt.
