Muriel Hagen

muriel-hagenA  Celebration of Life for Muriel A. Hagen, 94, of St. James, Minnesota and formerly of  Ormsby, Minnesota, was held on Saturday morning, September 24, 2016 at Long Lake Lutheran Church in rural St. James, with Rev. Kathleen Ulland-Klinkner as the officiant.

Interment was in the church cemetery.

Kramer Family Funeral Home in Trimont, Minnesota, handled the arrangements.

Muriel died peacefully on Wednesday morning,  September 21, 2016  at Mayo Clinic Health Systems-Mankato, Minnesota.

Muriel Adeline Hagen was born on November 3, 1921 in rural Ormsby, the daughter of Marvin and Ethel (Romsdahl) Olson. She was baptized and confirmed at Long Lake Lutheran Church.

Muriel attended high school at the U of M School of Agriculture in St. Paul, Minnesota, and graduated in 1939.

She was united in marriage to Vernon E. Hagen on January 5, 1946 at Long Lake Lutheran Church. They lived in Ormsby, and had four children.

Vernon died on December 6, 1968.

Muriel worked at the Ormsby Post Office, Ormsby Farmers Grain, and Production Credit (Federal Land Bank) in St. James before retiring in 1987. She continued living in Ormsby until moving to  Prairie View in February 2014.

She taught Sunday School and was active in ELCW and was a lifetime member of Long Lake Lutheran Church.

Muriel enjoyed spending time with family and friends, updating the family tree, gardening, sewing, watching the birds – and the Minnesota Twins. She enjoyed keeping up with her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids on social media. She made the best Kringle.

Muriel was preceded in death by her parents; husband; siblings, Sylvan Olson, Eldon Olson, Verle Olson, Winfield Olson and Ruth (Dolly) Mueller; son-in-law, Allan Kruse; great-grandson, Daniel Addabbo; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Tom Mueller, Karl and Edna Hagen, Helmer and Dorothy Hagen, Melvin and Vera Hagen, Ruth Hagen and Myrtle and Elmer Wassman.

Muriel is survived by her children, Nancy Kruse of rural Odin, Minnesota, Larry Hagen of Fairmont, Minnesota, LeeAnn Nibbe and her husband, Doug Nibbe, of rural St. James and Kari Lorenz and her husband, David Lorenz, of Elk River, Minnesota; grandchildren, Stacy (Cory) Ebeling, Laura (Dan) Addabbo, Melissa Kruse, Amber (Joe) Ayers, Phil (Ashley) Lorenz, Lacey (Brett) Kietzer, Erica (Jeff) Hofmeister, Erin (Ben) Fanning, Teresa (Jamie) Jansen and Brian Nibbe; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters, Irene (Orville) Goskeson of Albert Lea, Minnesota and Ethel (Vernon) Christopher of Jackson, Minnesota; sisters in law, Margaret Olson of Ormsby, LaVon Olson of St. James, Meta Olson of Sun Valley, California and Marilyn Olson of Northfield, Minnesota and several nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
