Frances P. Wills

frances-p-willsMass of Christian Burial for 91-year-old Frances P. Wills will be held on Friday morning, September 16, 2016, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church of Windom, Minnesota. The church is located at 532 17th Street.

Visitation will be at LaCanne Family Funeral Home in Windom from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, September 15, 2016. Parish Prayers will be held at 7 p.m. following the visitation. The funeral home is located at 2280 6th Avenue.

Frances P. Wills was born on February 2, 1925, in Mallard, Iowa to the late Edward and Anna (Kirtz) Kendall. She was baptized and confirmed in Mallard. Frances received her early education in the St. Mary’s Catholic School in Mallard and graduated from Mallard High School.

On October 3, 1943, Frances was united in marriage to Richard Harold Wills in Mallard. They lived and farmed near Rodman, Iowa from 1944-1967, when they moved to rural Windom. She helped Richard around the farm, along with raising their five children.

Richard passed away in September 1995. After his death, Frances remained on the farm until 2013, when she became a resident of the Good Samaritan Society-The Village in Mt. Lake. She passed away there on Sunday morning, September 11, 2016.

Frances was a member of the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Windom where she was a cantor, was a member of the women’s church circle (CCW) and quilting group. She also was a member of the Great Bend Ladies Aid.

Frances had many enjoyments in life which included singing with her two sisters, crossword puzzles, gardening, collecting bells and roosters and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her five children, Cheryl Rader of Mankato, Minnesota, Allan Wills of Windom, Christine (Bob) Gallagher of Hanover Park, Illinois, Stephen Wills (Teresa Vachuska) of Alpha, Minnesota and Becky (Mike) Hanson of Kirkland, Washington; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Pearl Hood of Emmetsburg, Iowa and Genevieve Reinders of Emmetsburg, Iowa and nieces, nephews and friends.

Frances was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard Wills; infant daughter, Deborah Wills; one brother, Jerry Kendall and six sisters, Monica, Elvita, Bertilla, Mary, Alice and Virginia.
