Aaron ‘Buzz’ Wohlenhaus

aaron wohlenhausA public graveside service for Aaron D. “Buzz”  Wohlenhaus, 99, of Butterfield, Minnesota will be at 10 a.m. on Friday morning, July 22, 2016 at the Butterfield  Mennonite Cemetery in rural Butterfield, with Pastor Tim Hall officiating. There will be full Military Honors by the Donald V. Larson Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #9607 of Butterfield.

There will be a time of fellowship and sharing of memories of Bus right after the graveside service at the Butterfield Community Bible Church in Butterfield.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. tonight (Thursday, July 21, 2016) at the Kramer Family Funeral Home in Trimont, Minnesota. Messages of sympathy may be sent to the family on line at www.kramerfuneralhome.com.

Aaron Wohlenhaus passed away on Tuesday evening, July 19, 2016 at his home  in Butterfield.

Aaron “Buzz” Dale Wohlenaus was born on January 9, 1917, the son of Dietrich and Josephine (Blaser) Wohlenhaus in Martin County, Minnesota. He grew up on a farm near Triumph, Minnesota.

He owned a livestock trucking business in Triumph. In 1942, he served with the United States Army until his honorable discharge in 1945. He then returned to Triumph and worked for Triumph Hardware for Walter Anderson.

On August 3, 1946, he married Leta Davey at the Evangelical Brethren Church in Welcome, Minnesota. They moved from Triumph to Butterfield in 1957, where they owned Wohlenhaus OK Hardware. After they sold the hardware store in 1976, he worked for the Butterfield Oil Company for many years.

Buzz was a member of the Butterfield Community Bible Church and one time served on its Church Board. He served on the Butterfield School Board and Butterfield Fire Department. His hobbies included watching all Minnesota sports and riding his motorcycle until the age of 81. He mowed the lawn at Voss Park and belonged to the Butterfield Threshermen’s Association.

He is survived by his sons, Keith (Eileen) of Owatonna, Minnesota and Larry (Marge) of Eagan, Minnesota; his daughter, Kay of Butterfield, Minnesota; granddaughters, Karen Wohlenhaus of Maplewood, Minnesota, Lindsay (Brett) Bjorkquist of Owatonna and Amy (Ethan) Smith of Northfield, Minnesota; one great-grandson, Jack Aaron Bjorkquist and many nephews, nieces and other relatives.

Preceding him in death were his parents; wife, Leta on May 9, 2012; two brothers; four sisters and other relatives.
