A Service of Remembrance for 75-year-old Seighfredt “Si” E. Olson, of Fairmont, Minnesota, formerly of Trimont, Minnesota, will be 1:30 p.m. tomorrow afternoon (Wednesday, June 15, 2016) at First Lutheran Church in Trimont, with Pastor John Heille officiating. The church is located at 61 Apple Street S. E.
Visitation will be today (Tuesday, June 14, 2016) from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Kramer Family Funeral Home in Trimont, located at 71 2nd Avenue S. E. A second visitation will be held at the church the day of the funeral services from 12:30 p.m. to 1:3o p.m.
Burial will be in First Lutheran Cemetery in rural Trimont, Minnesota at a later date.
Si passed away on Thursday morning, June 9, 2016 at Mayo Clinic Health System in Fairmont.
Seighfredt “Si” Ernest Olson was was born on July 24, 1940 in Trimont, the son of Alfred and Martha Olson. Si worked at Trimont Block & Silo in the late 1950s. On November 24, 1962, he was united in marriage to Diane Schulte of Butterfield. After their marriage, they lived in rural Trimont, St. James, Minnesota, Butterfield, East Chain, Minnesota, Granada, Minnesota and Fairmont. From 1964-1969, he worked at Scherr Tumico in St. James, Minnesota. In 1969, he started working at Railway Motors in Fairmont until his retirement in 2000 because of ill health
Si loved fishing and hunting. He especially enjoyed fishing trips to the Missouri River with his son, Tim; grandson, Scott; son-in-law. Greg and his brothers. In his last hours, many conversations were centered around fishing. Other interests included camping, Native American culture, fixing up items for re-sale and repairing vehicles. His family was the center of his universe and he loved spending time with them all.
Survivors include his wife, Diane (Schulte) Olson; daughter, Cindy (Olson) Verschelde and husband Greg of Fairmont; son, Tim Olson and wife Christy of Fairmont; grandchildren Sarah (Olson) McVenes and husband Shane, Scott Steinbrink, Stephanie (Steinbrink) Ferguson and husband Damien, Emily (Olson) George and husband Eric. Ryan Graif and wife Melissa, Ashley Olson and Amber Olson; great grandchildren Shayne Steinbrink (age 12), Mariyah Ferguson (6), Brock Steinbrink (5), Jocelyn Ferguson (2), Maddilynn Gilb (2), Audree Olson (2) and Harper Gilb (1); brothers, Floyd Olson of Trimont, Lloyd Olson and wife Dianne of Trimont and Kenny Olson of Trimont; brother-in-law, Bob Schulte and wife Deisy of Altemonte Springs, Florida; sister-in-laws, Anita Faulhaber of Prescott, Wisconsin, Darla Schulte of Mesa, Arizona and Alice Schulte of Mechanicsville, Maryland; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
