B-OPS School Board switches investigation firms

Act on personnel items

In addition to accepting the resignation of incoming Butterfield-Odin Public School (B-OPS) Superintendent Jerry Reker at its Tuesday, June 21 meeting, the B-OPS School Board acted on a number of additional agenda items – as well as an item added to the agenda – according to Nicholas Cicale of the St. James Plaindealer.

Board members approved changing the investigative agency completing an investigation of former B-OPS Principal Lisa Shellum. The original firm, NeuVest, submitted a resignation when they determined, after beginning the investigation, that there was too much work involved in completing the process in the original timetable.

Replacing NeuVest will be Jim Martin of Booth Law Group LLC. Martin will be paid $200 per day of work, in comparison to the charge of $225 a day presented by NeuVest.

This motion passed by a 4-3 vote. Voting in favor were B-OPS Board Chair Joel Penner, B-OPS Vice-Chair Leon Wenner, B-OPS Board Treasurer Andy Pierson and B-OPS Clerk Tammy Wolle. Those voting against the motion were B-OPS Board Directors Kristy Haseman, Renae Meyer and Diane Peterson.
