lloyd olsonA Celebration of Life Service for Lloyd H. Olson, 86, of Trimont, Minnesota  will be 11 a.m. on Tuesday morning, January 12, 2016 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Trimont with Reverend John Meyer officiating. The church is located at 31 Main Street West.

Burial will be in the Cedar Hill Cemetery in rural Trimont, with full military honors by the Foster-Bernhardt American Legion Post #373 of Trimont. The cemetery is located at 1971-1975 50th Avenue.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m.-7 p.m. on Monday, January 11, 2016 at the Kramer Family Funeral Home in Trimont. The funeral home is located at 71 2nd Avenue S. E. A second visitation will be held at the church the day of the funeral service, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Lloyd Olson passed away on Friday morning, January 8, 2016 at his home in Trimont.

Lloyd Harry Olson was born on December 12, 1929, the son of Harry and Marie (Sjogren) Olson on the farm in Cedar Township, Martin County, Minnesota. He was baptized, and later confirmed, at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Triumph. He attended country school in Cedar Township and later was a 1947 graduate of Triumph-Monterey High School.

Lloyd attended Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minnesota. He then served in the United States Army until his honorable discharge. At that time, he returned home to farm with his brothers.

On April 4, 1959, he was united in marriage to Elaine Anita Freeman at Fairmont, Minnesota. After their marriage, they farmed in Elm Creek Township and Cedar Township of Martin County. Lloyd farmed with his son, Jon, and in November 1995, Lloyd and Elaine moved into Trimont. Lloyd continued to farm until his retirement in 2004.

Elaine Olson passed away on May 10, 2010. Lloyd continued living in his home in Trimont.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where he held various church offices. Lloyd enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, visiting, drinking coffee with friends and family, telling stories and enjoyed raising cattle and sheep on the farm. He was a member of the Foster-Bernhardt American Legion Post #373 of Trimont.

Survivors include one daughter, Lisa (Elwin) Doorenbos of Boyden, Iowa; son, Jon (Julie) Olson of rural Trimont; five grandchildren, Joshua Doorenbos and his wife, Bethany, Nikki Doorenbos, Reilley Rode and her husband, Brian, Matraca Olson and Bailey Olson; two great grandsons, Elwin Theodore Doorenbos and August Rudolph Rode; three sisters-in-law, Mabel Olson of rural Mountain Lake, Minnesota; Jeanette (Paul) Granum of Sioux Falls, South Dakota and Joan Freeman of Lakeland, Florida; several nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Lester (Doris) Olson, Burton Olson and Curtis (Leila Mae) Olson; one nephew, Steven Olson; his father- and mother-in-law, Silas and Wilhelmina Freeman and other relatives.

Lloyd’s family prefers memorials be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church Parking Lot Fund in his memory.
