A Celebration of Life Service for Martha A. Wassman, 97, of Ormsby, Minnesota, will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon, September 8, 2015, 2015 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Galena Township, rural Ormsby.
Burial will be in the church cemetery in rural Ormsby.
Reverend John Meyer will officiate at the services.
Visitation will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral services.

Martha Wassman passed away on Thursday morning, September 3, 2015 at Pleasant View Good Samaritan Center in St. James, Minnesota.
Martha Augusta Engelbrecht was on born December 17, 1917, the daughter of Edward and Clara (Kueker) Engelbrecht, in South Branch Township, rural St James, Minnesota. She was named after her grandmothers.
She received her education in parochial and rural schools and was a graduate of St. James Public High School in 1936. She was employed at various business places in St. James before her marriage.
She was united in marriage to Norbert Wassman of Ormsby on April 25, 1943, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in St. James. After their marriage, they lived and farmed on the Wassman family farm rural Ormsby, where the couple resided until retiring and moving to Ormsby in 1976. They shared and enjoyed 40 years of married life together until Norbert passed away November 30, 1983.
Martha was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and was active in the organizations of the church. She held offices in the Ladies Aid, Mother’s Club and the Circuit LWML. She taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School and enjoyed singing in the choir.
Martha was also active in community affairs, having served several terms on the Ormsby School Board before its consolidation with St. James and as Ormsby City Clerk for 18 years.
She enjoyed her family and friends and all activities related to being a mother and a homemaker and a resident of the community. Special interests were baking and decorating special occasion cakes, quilting, sewing, Garden Club and flower arranging, card playing, collecting cook books, reading and in her later years making church banners.
Martha was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Norbert; son, James; infant son, Gordon; sisters, Adelia Schloman and Lenore Adams and many other relatives.
She is survived by two daughters, Janice (Thomas) Bowie of Sierra Vista, Arizona and Susan (Darwin) Bostic of Anthem, Arizona; one daughter–in-law, Darla Wassman, Mountain Lake, Minnesota; five grandchildren, Jen (Thomas) Wilson, Karl (Karyn) Wassman, Molly (Marc Reiners) Bostic, Matthew (Kimberlee) Bowie and Andrew (Mariko) Bostic; six great-grandchildren, Kade, Kody and Kathryn Wassman, Seth and Drake Bowie and Anders Wilson; sisters, Bernice Haycraft and Helen (Wes) Josephson; brothers, Alfred Engelbrecht and Herbert (Arlene) Engelbrecht; brother-in-law, James Adams; sister-in-law, Thelma Wassman and many nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
