Mary (Von Ohlen) Krull wrote about childhood growing up in Jackson County township
An author with area roots, Mary (Von Ohlen) Krull, was featured at a special event at Mountain Lake Public Library (MLPL) this afternoon (Wednesday, September 23). The presentation included an author talk and book reading.
Krull is the author of “Growing in Kimball,” in which she writes of her childhood days growing up on a small farm in Kimball Township of Jackson County (located south of Mountain Lake) during the 1940s and 1950s. She graduated from Jackson Public High School in 1960.
Krull (who was born in Bethel Hospital in Mountain Lake) has been writing and journaling most of her life. A professional encouraged her to write a book, and that began the process. While initially planning to put some of her life stories into a memoir to share with her children and grandchildren for Christmas 2014, the idea grew into this small book, “Growing in Kimball.”
