Funeral services for 97-year-old Lillian Wesseling of Kerrville, Texas, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday morning, March 21, 2015, at LaCanne Family Funeral Home in Windom, Minnesota. The funeral home is located at 2280 6th Avenue.
Visitation will be on Friday, March 20, 2015, from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., as well as from 9:30 a.m. t0 10:30 a.m. the day of the funeral, both at LaCanne Family Funeral Home.
Lillian Wesseling passed away on March 12, 2015 at a local care center in Kerrville.
Lillian Wesseling was born on December 2, 1917 in Jeffers, Minnesota, the daughter of Eltjo and Jennie (Schurman) Goeman. After graduating from Jeffers Public High School, she went to business school and worked for Cottonwood County in Windom.
She was united in marriage to John Wesseling on December 28, 1940. She and John began a painting business, built several homes in Jeffers, and later owned the Delft Produce with stores in Delft, Minnesota and Jeffers. Later, they farmed near Delft for many years.
In 1974, John and Lil retired to Norway Lake near New London, Minnesota, and, in 1985, they moved to Kerrville to be in a warmer climate.
Lil is survived by three children, Jim (Pat) Wesseling of Kerrville, Charlene Costigan of Kerrville and Don (Linda) Wesseling of Waseca, Minnesota; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, June Haugrud of Lake Park, Minnesota and Lois Barklow of Windom and pets, Torrey and Maggie.
She was preceded in death by husband, John, in 2002; an infant daughter; infant granddaughter and son-in-law, Leo Costigan.
