Passenger car, semi sideswipe accident on #60

Collision occurred east of Butterfield at Milepost #60

The Minnesota State Highway Patrol reports that a sideswipe-type of accident, involving a 2003 Kenworth Semi and a 2003 Oldsmobile Alero, occurred at 2:41 pm. on Thursday afternoon, January 8, 2015, on an icy Minnesota State Highway #60 east of Butterfield at Milepost #60 that was also affected by pockets of blowing snow. Both the Oldsmobile, driven by 24-year-old Alicia E. Chute of Butterfield, and the semi, driven by Jesse L. Kruger, 49, of Milaca, were traveling eastbound on Highway #60. The Oldsmobile changed lanes to make a left turn and did not see the semi, causing the vehicles to collide.

Chute was transported by Mountain Lake Ambulance to Mayo Clinic Health System-St. James with non-life-threatening injuries. Kruger had no apparent injuries.

The Oldsmobile received moderate damage, while the semi had minor damage.

Also assisting the Highway Patrol was the Watonwan County Sheriff’s Office.
