Eldon E. Nagorske

eldon nagorskeFuneral services for 81-year-old Eldon E. Nagorske of Mankato, Minnesota, will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon, January 14, 2015, at Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Windom, Minnesota, located at 1157 3rd Avenue.

Visitation will be from 12 noon to 1 p.m. at the church the day of the funeral service.

LaCanne Family Funeral Home of Windom is handling the arrangements.

On Tuesday, January 6, Eldon became a resident of Laurels Peak Rehabilitation Center in Mankato and passed away there peacefully three days later on Friday, January 9, 2015.

Eldon E. Nagorske was born August 11, 1933 in Dale Township, Cottonwood County, the son of the late late Reinhold and Erna V. (Hoppe) Nagorske. He was baptized on October 22, 1933 and confirmed on May 25, 1947 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Windom. He went to Country School (#80 West) for four years and completed his education through the tenth grade at Bingham Lake Public High School. He attended Windom Public High School his last two years, graduating with the Class of 1951.

On August 12, 1955, he was united in marriage to Lorna Johnson of Bingham Lake, Minnesota. They were blessed with four children. Eldon farmed for 15 years in the Bingham Lake and Windom areas.

In 1971, he quit farming and moved to Windom to take employment with Fairland Management Company. He retired in 1996 after 25 years. After retiring, Eldon and Lorna continued to live in Windom until moving to Mankato, Minnesota in 2012.

Eldon was a member of the Hosanna Lutheran Church in Mankato. While living in Windom, he was a member of the Lutheran Church of Our Savior, where he served on the church council and was a head usher for 14 years.

Hunting, fishing, trapping and golfing were all favorites of his. Eldon was a fan of the Minnesota Twins, Vikings, and Gophers. He also enjoyed traveling and spending winters in Arizona. He loved chocolate. Most of all, he loved his time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Eldon is survived by his wife of 59 years, Lorna Nagorske of Windom; three daughters, Lori (Randy) Marquette of Chanhassen, Minnesota, Robin (Bob) Hanson of Maple Grove, Minnesota and Lisa (Brian) Bischel of Prior Lake, Minnesota; a daughter-in-law, Pam Nagorske of Orono, Minnesota; five granddaughters, four grandsons and four great-grandchildren; siblings, Herb (Marlys) Nagorske of Windom and Alma (Bob) Peters of Montevideo, Minnesota; sister-in-law, Pat Nagorske of Fairfax, Virginia; sister-in-law, Donna Nagorske of Truman; nieces and nephews, other relatives,\ and many great friends.

He was preceded in death by parents; son, Lynn Nagorske; three siblings, Junior Nagorske, Erma Kropp and Walt Nagorske; sister-in-law, Margie Nagorske and brother-in-law, Dick Kropp.
