dennis hempeckA Celebration of Life Service for Dennis D. Hempeck, 76, of rural Mountain Lake, Minnesota will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday morning, December 22, 2014 at First Lutheran Church in Butterfield, Minnesota with Pastor Lowell Asplund officiating.

Interment will be in the Butterfield City Cemetery Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m.-7 p.m. on Sunday, December 21, 2014 at the Kramer Family Funeral Home in Trimont, Minnesota, as well as one hour prior to the services at the church.

Dennis Hempeck passed away t on Thursday morning, December 18, 2014 at St. James Mayo Clinic Health System in St. James, Minnesota.

Dennis Dean Hempeck was born on November 11, 1938, the son of Emil and Maurs (Johnson) Hempeck in Windom, Minnesota. He was baptized and later confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Mountain Lake. He attended country school until the eighth grade and then was a 1956 graduate of Butterfield Public High School.

Dennis then farmed in the Butterfield area.

On December 6, 1958, he was united in marriage to Verna M. Friesen at First Mennonite Church in Mountain Lake. After their marriage, they lived in rural Mountain Lake and Dennis farmed, plus owned and operated his own plumbing business.

Verna died on December 11, 2009.

Dennis was united in blessing to Lucille “Cele” Thares and they made their home in rural Mountain Lake.

Dennis greatly enjoyed going up to their cabin near Black Duck, going fishing and being in the outdoors, feeding the birds, going camping, playing basketball and watching his grandchildren’s sporting events, going bear hunting, farming and being with people.

Survivors include Lucille “Cele”; son, Larry (Jody) Hempeck; daughter, Kris Hempeck; four grandchildren, Isaac (Hailey) Arndt, Anna Arndt, Kelly Hempeck and Andrew Hempeck; Jim, Jon, Paul and Kristen and their families; brothers, Jerry (Jayne) Hempeck and Stashenko “Marvin” Hempeck; sister, Shirley (John W.) Carlson and nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Verna HempeckHempec and other relatives.
