Block Party/Street Dance fundraiser to be held Saturday, September 6
Uff da!
This multi-use exclamation came to America in the late 19th century, courtesy of Scandinavian immigrants. If you are surprised or astonished, you say “Uff da;” if you are disgusted or dismayed, you say “Uff da;” if you are overworked, you say “Uff da” and if you are relieved, you say “Uff da.”
In this case “Uff da” designates the mile fun run to be held as part of an Odin Playground Fund fundraiser on Saturday, September 6, in that Watonwan County city center with deep Scandinavian roots – Odin.
The fun run will be just one of the events on the day, with the entertainment focus swirling around a “downtown” Block Party, and later in the evening, a Street Dance.
A Bean Bag Tournament gets events rolling at 2 p.m., with tossing continuing until 5 p.m. To register, go to @Facebook/Odinstreetdance.
The official “Uff Da” Mile Run gun will sound at 2 p.m. Early registration can be done at the R. D. Harder Insurance Agency, with race day registration from 12 noon to 1:45 p.m. at the Odin Community Center.
Kids Games will start in Odin City Park at 3 p.m., with a Pork Chop Dinner to be served in the Odin Community Center from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
On the Main Stage for the Street Dance will be Canyon Cowboys, playing from 8 p.m. to midnight.
A raffle drawing for prizes will interrupt the music for a bit at 9:30 p.m.
And – the Beer Wagon will be on hand from 2 p.m. to midnight.
