A Service of Remembrance for Jeffery Lee Hanson, 54 of Longwood, Florida, formerly of Odin, Minnesota will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday morning, August 16, 2014 at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in rural Odin, with Carla Reierson officiating.
Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Remembrance of Jeff and visitation with the family will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, August 15, 2014 at the Kramer Family Funeral Home in Trimont, Minnesota, as well one hour prior to the services on Saturday at the church. Jeff passed away on Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at Altamonte Hospital in Altamonte, Florida.
Jeffery Lee Hanson, the son of Kenneth and Dolores (Dawson) Hanson, was born August 13, 1959 in Fairmont, Minnesota. Jeff received Holy Baptism and was confirmed at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in rural Odin. He attended Odin Elementary School and was a 1977 graduate of Butterfield-Odin Public High School, where he participated in football and wrestling. He then attended Jackson Vocational School for telephone technician. After graduation, Jeff accepted a job with United Telephone Company in DeWitt, Iowa, where he met and married Cheryl Pietrass, and their son, Jesse Lee Hanson, was born. His job with United Telephone Company took Jeff and his family to Altamonte Springs, where he received his 30-year anniversary award. He enjoyed camping, fishing, golf, dancing, dice and board games with friends, watching TV shows of yesteryear, and time spent with Snoopy, their dog. Jeff enjoyed his visits back to Odin for family and class reunions, cousin weekends, the Butterfield Threshing Bee and visits with family and friends.
Survivors include his son, Jesse Hanson of Longwood, Florida; parents, Kenneth and Dolores Hanson of Odin; siblings, spouse and children, Cindy (Mark) Neiderman of San Diego, California; Charnelle (Darrell) Goring, Zach (Jill), Lucas (Sarah) and families of Apple Valley, Minnesota; Bryan (Linda) Hanson, Garrett and Ryan of Winter, Wisconsin and Mark (Sharon) Hanson, Cole and Kaitlyn of Hendricks, Minnesota.
Jeff was preceded in death by his infant brother, Thomas Allen; grandparents, Walter and Geneva Dawson and Howard and Julia Hanson and other relatives.
