Mary Ann Simon passed away on Saturday morning, July 12, 2014, the Good Samaritan Society-Sogge Memorial in Windom.

Mary Ann Simon was born on June 27, 1930, in Heron Lake, Minnesota, the daughter of the late John and Anna C. (Monson) Olson. She was baptized and confirmed at the Amo Lutheran Church in rural Storden, Minnesota. Mary Ann received her early education at the Red White and Blue School House and later attended Windom Public Schools; graduating with the Class of 1948. She then attended college in Mankato.

On February 14, 1950, Mary Ann was united in marriage to Carl Leonard Simon at the American Lutheran Church in Windom. This marriage was blessed with three children, Mike, Kris and Marty. For a short time they farmed west of Windom and later moved south of Windom, where they lived for 10 years. In 1961, Mary and Carl moved to their farm in Dale Township, Cottonwood County. Carl passed away on September 1, 1984. After his death, Mary Ann continued to live on the farm until May of this year when she became a resident of the Good Samaritan Society-Sogge Memorial in Windom.

Through the years, Mary Ann worked as a teacher’s assistant and as a secretary for the Storden-Jeffers Public Schools and the Red Rock Public Schools – retiring in 2011,  just three years ago.

Mary Ann was a member of the American Lutheran Church in Windom. She had many enjoyments in life which included bingo, reading, playing piano, crocheting-especially the afghans she made for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and most of all, her family, especially her grandchildren.

Mary Ann is survived by her three children, Mike Simon and his wife, Marlene, of Windom; Kris Pfeiffer and special friend, Ron Klassen, of Mountain Lake; Marty Simon of Bingham Lake; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents, John and Anna Olson; husband, Carl Simon; and son-in-law, Steve Pfeiffer.
