Funeral services for 97-year-old Pansy Purrington of Mankato, Minnesota will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday morning, June 10, 2014, at Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Windom, Minnesota, located at 1157 3rd Avenue.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday one hour prior to services.

LaCanne Family Funeral Home of Windom is handling the arrangements.

Pansy Purrington passed away on Friday morning, June 6, 2014, at Mayo Health Systems Hospital in Mankato.

Pansy (Soleta) Purrington was born on October 17, 1916, in Windom, the daughter of Fred and Louise (Dolly) Soleta. She was baptized and later confirmed at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Windom. She received her education from Windom Public High School. After high school, Pansy moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota for a short period before moving back to Windom.

On July 3, 1938, Pansy was united in marriage to Marvin Purrington in Minneapolis. This marriage was blessed with two sons, Dwayne and Dwight. Pansy worked at Wolf’s Store in Windom and worked for the county superintendent of schools for Cottonwood County. She then worked as the Clerk of Court for many years in Cottonwood County.

Marvin passed away in 1981. After his death, Pansy continued to live in Windom until 1995, when she moved to Mankato. 

Pansy was a member of the Hosanna Lutheran Church in Mankato where she was very active in the Ladies Aid. She was also a Red Hatter in Mankato and a member of the Minnesota Clerks of Court Association. She enjoyed traveling to many places, playing cards, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Pansy will be remembered for her famous Rice Krispie Bars.

She is survived by her son, Dwayne Purrington of Minneapolis; daughter-in-law, Lois Purrington of Olivia, Minnesota; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three siblings, Lester Soleta of Windom; Delores Fast and her husband, Harry, of Mankato; and Bernetta Maras of Windom; and other relatives.

Pansy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Marvin Purrington; son, Dwight Purrington; and five siblings, Vernon Soleta, Violet Arndt, Clarence Soleta, Edith Arndt, and Lennie Soleta.
