betty l wendtFuneral services for Betty L. Wendt, 83, of Springfield, Minnesota, will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 24, 2014, at Sundown Lutheran Church in Sundown Township, located at 17793 Nature Avenue in rural Springfield.

Interment will be in Sundown Lutheran Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 23, 2014, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., in the Springfield Chapel of Sturm Funeral Home, located at 407 North Jackson in Springfield, as well as one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.

Betty L. Wendt passed away on Wednesday, May 21, 2014, at St. John’s Lutheran Home in Springfield.

She was born on September 23, 1930, in Randall, Minnesota, the daughter of Michael and Esther (Thompson) Sullivan and graduated from Little Falls Public High School. After high school graduation, she moved to the Twin Cities area to work at a bank.

Betty married Clarence Wendt on September 23, 1952 in Iroquois, South Dakota. Following their marriage, the couple lived and farmed in Sundown Township. She was an active member at Sundown Lutheran Church.

Betty and Clarence enjoyed wintering in the southwest, especially in New Mexico, and Betty enjoyed making quilts. She continued to travel following Clarence’s death in 1989. Betty moved into Springfield in 2003.

Survivors include her daughters,  Barb (Milton) Potter of Bingham Lake, Minnesota and their children Rachel, Jay, and Brett Potter; and Michelle (Don) Anderson of Springfield and their children Sara (Kevin) Lee, Joe (Jennie) Anderson and Bob (Emily) Anderson; great-grandchildren, Jacob Lee, Blaine and Brady Anderson, and Brooklyn and Cash Anderson.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clarence, in 1989; a son, Brad, in 2009; a brother, Mitchell Sullivan; a sister, Marcella Dobbins and a special friend, Dick Eisenmenger, in 2007.
