harvey vothFuneral services for 85-year-old Harvey J. Voth of St. James, Minnesota, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday morning, April 24, 2014, at Augustana Lutheran Church in St. James. The church is located at 603 Armstrong Boulevard North.

Interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, south of St. James on Watonwan County Road #27.

Pastor Kathleen Ulland-Klinkner will officiate at the services.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., on Wednesday, April 23, 2014, at the St. James Chapel of Sturm Funeral Home, located at 906 10th Avenue South. Another visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Thursday.

Harvey J. Voth passed away on Sunday, April 20, 2014, in St. James.

He was born in Delft, Minnesota, on March 19, 1929, the son of Isaac and Minnie (Foster) Voth and grew up in Butterfield, Minnesota, where he graduated from Butterfield Public High School in 1947. On September 5, 1948, Harvey was united in marriage to Ileane Ewert in St. James. The couple made their home in Butterfield for a year before moving to St. James.

In 1956, Harvey took over the Standard Oil Agency, which he ran until his retirement. In 1970, he bought into the elevator (Echols Ag Service), in which he was active in until retiring in 1992. He continued to work during planting and harvesting season for a number of years. Harvey was also in the feed business and active in the community. He served on the St. James City Council for 16 years, St. James Public School Board for nine years, St. James Volunteer Fire Departament for 28 years and was also active in his church, where he served on the church council and as its treasurer.

Harvey enjoyed the outdoors, was an avid hunter, fisherman and gardener. He loved his family and spending time with his wife traveling, raising their sons and watching them raise his grandchildren – which he adored.

Harvey is survived by his wife, Ileane Voth of St. James; sons; Stephen (Ursula) Voth of Rapid City, South Dakota, Randall (Gloria) Voth of New Ulm, Minnesota, Bryan (Stephanie) Voth of Hartford, South Dakota; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Marguerite Johnson of St. James; a brother, Ronald (Averil) Voth of Madison Lake, Minnesota; a sister-in-law; Jean (Richard) Lepp and a brother-in-law, James Ewert, both of St. James; special friends, Kaitlyn Schlomann (age six) and Stan and Nancy Kunkel, all of St. James and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws, David and Alvina Ewert; granddaughter, Amber Nicole; brother-in-law, Robert Johnson and sisters-in-law, Kathleen Fjermstad and Lois Ewert.
