laurie jean lundFuneral services for Laurie Jean Lund, 51, of Windom, Minnesota will be held Friday morning at 10:30 a.m., on March 28, 2014, in the Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Windom. The church is located at 1157 3rd Avenue.

Visitation will be held Thursday, March 27, 2014, at LaCanne Family Funeral Home in Windom, located at 2280 6th Avenue, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Laurie Jean (Johnson) Lund was born on December 23, 1962, the daughter of Lynn and Kathryn (Vrchota) Johnson in Windom, was baptized on March 31, 1963 and confirmed on April 3, 1977 at the Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Windom. She received her education from Windom Area Public Schools, graduating with the Class of 1981. After high school, she attended Mankato State University.

On May 21, 1983, Laurie was united in marriage to Jeffrey Lund in Windom. This marriage was blessed with four children, Sarah, Matthew, Maria and Abby. The marriage was later dissolved. Laurie worked at the Red Rock Ridge Alternative Learning Center in Windom as a paraprofessional. In April 2012, she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. She moved to the Sunset Hospice Cottage in Worthington, Minnesota on March 14, 2014 where she lived until passing away on Monday evening, March 24, 2014.

Laurie was a member of the Lutheran Church of Our Savior where she was a choir member, VBS (Vacation Bible School) teacher, Sunday School Superintendent and teacher and a Jesus Company Leader. She enjoyed singing, dancing, scrapbooking, sewing, crafts, being at the lake and most of all being with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by four children, Sarah (Nate) Low of Windom; Matthew (Kelsie) Lund of Mankato, Minnesota, Maria Lund (Trent Anderson) of Windom and Abby Lund of Menomonie, Wisconsin; three grandchildren, Carson, Sydney and Keely Low; mother, Kathryn Johnson of Windom; eight siblings, Randy (Charlotte) Johnson of Mokena, Illinois, Reid (Jodi) Johnson of Windom, Valerie (Mark) Pender of Andover, Minnesota, Kristine (Jim) Schmidt of Westbrook, Minnesota, Leif (Kathleen) Johnson of Mankato, Mark (Cindy) Johnson of Somerset, Wisconsin, Carolyn (Jeff) Schindler of Lakeville, Minnesota and Amy (Kip) Dunkelberger of Chaska; and many nieces and nephews and other relatives.

Laurie was preceded in death by her father, Lynn Orin Johnson and niece, Angela Lee Johnson.
