A mass of Christian burial for Amelia E. Uhrhammer, 93, of Sherburn, Minnesota will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 15,2014 at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Sherburn, with Father Brian Sutton as Celebrant and Father Charles Quinn as Con-Celebrant. Burial will be in St. Luke’s Catholic Cemetery in Sherburn.
Visitation, and a time of sharing memories with the Uhrhammer family, will be held from 9 a.m. on Saturday until time of the funeral mass at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in the Parish Center. Personal words of comfort may be sent to the family online at www.kramerfuneralhome.com.
Amelia Uhrhammer passed away on Sunday afternoon, March 9, 2014 at Temperance Lake Ridge Assisted Living in Sherburn.
Amelia Emma Studer was born December 27, 1920 near Metamora, Illinois, the daughter of Frank and Lena (Nauman) Studer. She received her early education in rural school located by Metamora. Amelia and her family moved to Sherburn in 1928 where she completed her education, graduating in 1940 from Sherburn Public High School. After graduation, Amelia provided home care services for various families in the area until her marriage to Erwin John Uhrhammer. They were married on September 2, 1946 at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Sherburn.
Following their marriage, the couple settled down in Sherburn, and Amelia stayed busy raising a young family. Amelia continued to be an active member of St. Luke’s Catholic Church. She participated in the Council of Catholic Women, Hope Guild, taught CCD classes for a number of years and was a member of the Catholic Bridge Club, which she enjoyed immensely. Outside of church activities included being a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, a Solo card club, and acted as a Girl Scout leader. After her own family was grown, Amelia started doing child care in the home, which continued for 10 years. Amelia enjoyed doing mission sewing for the church, playing cards with her friend, and her home and garden. She was particularly fond of the time she and Erwin had together traveling.
Amelia is survived by her three children; Bonnie McLellan and her husband, David, of Burnsville, Minnesota, Doug Uhrhammer and his wife, Marcia Goossen of Big Lake, Minnesota and Dan Uhrhammer of Edina, Minnesota; six grandchildren, Nathan and his wife, Julie Uhrhammer, April and husband, Keith Scheidt, Will Uhrhammer and fiancée, Cyerra Hanson, Katie and her husband, Chris Johnson, Ryan and his wife, Kara McLellan and Ross McLellan; three great-grandchildren, Zakkry, Scott and Anna; sister, Lucy Jensen of Rockford, Illinois; nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, Erwin J. Uhrhammer on April 26, 2006 and other relatives.
