leona tietzServices for Leona (Carlson) Tietz, 71, of Morgan, will be held Friday morning, February 21, 2014, at 11 a.m., at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Morgan, Minnesota, located at 220 Zion Street. Reverend Kurt Hagen will be the officiant. Visitation will be at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church on Thursday, February 20, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and again the morning of the funeral services, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield is handling the arrangements.
Leona Marion Carlson Tietz was born on May 1, 1942 in Darfur, Minnesota, the daughter of Albert and Edna (Jensen) Carlson. She was united in marriage to Leonard G. Tietz on April 25, 1962 at Faith Lutheran Church in Comfrey, Minnesota. She was a former member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Springfield, Minnesota and the American Lutheran Church in Windom, Minnesota, and was attending services at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Morgan. Leona enjoyed her work at MN Tech in Windom. Her passion was  family and time with the grandchildren, gardening, canning, playing cards, and researching genealogy.

Leona died on Saturday evening, February 15, 2014, at her home in Morgan.

She is survived by her husband, Leonard of Morgan; children Richard (Dawn) Tietz of Morgan and their children – Megan, Lucas, Amber, Becca, and Kegan; Jan (Dan) Fennern of Cannon Falls, Minnesota and their children – Brittany and Colin; Julie Nelsen of Superior, Iowa and her children – Kristina (fiancé Jeremy), Kayla, Elijah, Jessica, Katelyn, and William; Jeanie (Steve) Rasche of Heron Lake, Minnesota and their children – Alexa (Anthony) Michaela, Madasyn, Jacob Lundgren, Claire and Emma; sisters, Loretta Amsden of Springfield; Violet Anderson of St. James, Eileen (Ray) King of Lawrence, Kansas; a brother, Arnold “Junie” Carlson of Darfur and a sister-in-law, Ilene Carlson of St. James.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law, Tim Nelson; grandson, Andrew Fennern; a brother, Donald Carlson; and two brothers-in-law, Stan Amsden and Verne Anderson.
