Alice Bodin

Funeral services for 93-year-old Alice (Schmidt) Brodin will be held tomorrow morning (Tuesday, February 18, 2014), at 10:30 a.m., at Sturm Funeral Home’s St. James Chapel, located at 906 10th Avenue South in St. James, Minnesota. Reverend Kathleen Ulland-Klinkner will be the officiant.

Interment will be in Butterfield City Cemetery, south of Butterfield, Minnesota on Watonwan County Road #5.

Visitation will be at Sturm Funeral Home prior to the services from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

Alice Bodin passed away on Friday, February 14, 2014, in St. James.

Alice Schmidt was born on October 8, 1920, in Butterfield, the daughter of George and Mathea (Flogstad) Schmidt, and grew up in Butterfield, where she attended school. On October 22, 1938, she was united in marriage to Rudy Bodin. The couple moved to North Dakota where they farmed for three years before returning to St. James where they also farmed. In 1950, they moved into St. James and Alice went to work at Scherr-Tumico, where she worked until she retired. She enjoyed reading, crafts, Bingo and traveling. She also loved her pets and spending time with family. She moved into Brandt Ridge in St. James in November 2008 and into Pleasant View in St. James in November 2013.

Survivors include her daughters, Rosalie (Leo) Heinrichs of St. James and Judy Lyons of Kingston, Idaho; three grandchildren, Joe Sonnabend, Darren Sonnabend and Bryon Lyons; three great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Rudy; daughter, Joanne (Dallas) Swain; parents; three brothers and two sisters.
