Leland ‘Lee’ Wenner

leland-wennerA  Celebration of  Life Service for  88-year-old Leland “Lee” Wenner of rural Odin, Minnesota, will be at 11 a.m on Saturday morning, October 15, 2016 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Ormsby, Galena Township in Martin County, with Reverend John Meyer officiating.

Interment will be in the church cemetery in rural Ormsby, with full military honors by the Donald V. Larson V. F. W. Post #9607 of Butterfield, Minnesota.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, October 14, 2016, at Kramer Family Funeral Home in Trimont, Minnesota, located at 71 2nd Avenue S. E. A second visitation will be for one hour at the church prior to the service.

Leland Wenner passed away on Tuesday morning, October 11, 2016, at Mayo Clinic Health System-St. James, located in St. James, Minnesota.

Leland Clements Wenner was born on June 9, 1928 in St. Clair, Minnesota, the son of Harry and Rose (Bruels) Wenner. He was the fifth of six children. Lee was raised on a farm near St. Clair, where he graduated high school in 1945. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict until his honorable discharge.

Lee met Berneil Flohrs in 1951 in Mankato. They were united in marriage on September 22, 1956, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Galena Township, rural Ormsby. Lee was a faithful, active member of this church, where he held many offices.

Lee and Berneil lived and raised their three children on the farm in Cedar Township, rural Odin, where he continued to farm until the age of 87.

He was a member of the Odin Saddle Club, Donald V. Larson Butterfield V. F. W. Post #9607, Cattleman’s Association, 4-H Leader and helped with the Butterfield Threshing Bee.

Lee and Berneil enjoyed traveling throughout the United States. They recently spent a week traveling Upper Michigan. He loved to spend time with the family, whether it was on a lake fishing, grandchildren’s activities or one of many get-togethers. Lee had many endearing qualities that will be remembered by his family and friends.

He is survived by wife, Berneil Wenner of rural Odin; his three children, son, Leon and wife, Diana Wenner of rural Odin, daughter, Lois and husband, Brad Herrig and son, Neil and wife, Wendy Wenner, all of of Mountain Lake, Minnesota; 12 grandchildren, Angela (Jon), Alyssa, Joel (fiancé Chelsea), Dustin, Clayton, Barrett (friend Megan), Brittany (friend Erik), Katie (Tim), Brianna (friend Payton), Beau, Eric (friend Jenny) and Cooper; three great-grandchildren, Emery, Reagan and Remington; Joan Bunde of Camarillo, California; brother-in-law, Duane and wife, Marian Flohrs of Ormsby, Minnesota; sisters-in-law, Marian and husband, Gerald Langeland of rural Butterfield, Minnesota and Donna and husband, Bill Putrino of Hilton Head, South Carolina; many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

Leland was preceded in death by his parents; daughter-in-law, Irene Wenner; brothers, Edward and Robert; sisters, Elaine and Ivernie and other relatives.
