Wolverine girls lose to Edgerton Public

Hold four-point lead at half; cannot hang on

 

THE MOUNTAIN LAKE AREA (MLA) Wolverine varsity girls basketball team maneuvered to a four-point lead at the half of the Saturday night, January 28 home tussle versus Edgerton Public – 27 to 23 – but could not hang on to seal the deal in the second stanza, losing to their guests by nine, 67 to 58. Scoring leader for MLA was sophomore Taylor Naas with 16 points. Two other plays also hit for double digits, junior Jewel Soutthivong for 13 and senior Lexia Peters scoring 11. Freshman Margo Stoesz was tough under the board, nabbing 10 rebounds, and she also doled out three assists. Jordyn Smit scored 18 points for the Flying Dutchmen, while Elizabeth Buckridge scored 16 and Chynna Berning scored 14. The Wolverine girls have another home game tomorrow (Tuesday, January 31) against United South Central.
