Lyle John Valentien was born on May 5, 1941, in Springfield, the son of Dick and Helen Valentien. Lyle grew up and graduated from Comfrey Public School in 1959 and served for four-and-one-half years with the National Guard.

On May 6, 1961, he was united in marriage to Jeanne Marie Rummel. They celebrated 55 years of love and commitment in May 2016. Their marriage was blessed with four children, Cindy and husband, Gene Bridges, of Oak Creek, Wisconsin; Lyle Valentien Jr., who passed away during infancy; Terry Valentien and wife, Gwen, of Cold Spring, Minnesota and Kelly and husband, Kevin Vogel. of Sanborn, Minnesota.

Lyle was a loving husband and father and a talented craftsman. He was a jack-of-all-trades to include carpenter, plumber and electrician. He built campers-to-covered pontoon-and-paddle boat lifts – and many things in between. Lyle was the Operations Manager at St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield for 20 years. He was extremely creative and ingenious with a sense of humor that made everyone around him laugh.

In his earlier years, Lyle enjoyed auto body work in his spare time, as well as the outdoors. He loved camping, boating and fishing with his family and friends. Many memories were made at various lakes and resorts throughout Minnesota. He was not often without a family dog which just shows his love for animals (especially dogs).

Lyle is survived by his mother, Helen Valentien; his wife, Jeanne Valentien and his three children, Cindy Bridges and her husband, Gene; Terry Valentien and his wife, Gwen and Kelly Vogel and her husband, Kevin; his grandchildren, Daniel, Sarah, Brittany, Cassandra, Tyler, Cheyanne and Zachary; his two great-grandchildren, Emma and Dylan; his sister, Diane Potter; his nieces and nephews and other more distant family members.

He was preceded in death by his father, Dick Valentien; his son, Lyle Valentien, Jr. and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
