MLC Junior High Speech Team competes in Adrian Invite

Three earn oratory accolades

THE FOUR MEMBERS of the Mountain Lake Christian (MLC) Junior High Speech Team – all seventh-graders – competed in the Adrian Junior High Invitational Speech Meet on Thursday, March 10, with oratory accolades earned. Zoey Smith from St. James received a second-place medal in Great Speeches, Butterfield’s Sara Quiring finished third in Prose and Elizabeth Linscheid, also of Butterfield, was awarded seventh-place in Original Oratory. Also participating was Jack Lepp of Butterfield in Humorous. A pair of members of the MLC Senior High Speech Team, Melissa Lohrenz and Josh Raabe, served as judges at the meet. Coaches are Kim Friesen, assisted by Elijah Stoesz. The full team will competing tomorrow (Saturday, March 12), at the St. Peter Invitational Speech Meet. That will be the final meet for the team’s two seniors prior to the Subsection Tournament in Fairmont on Monday, March 28. Members of the Junior High Team will be competing in the Russell/Tyler/Ruthton Junior High Meet in Tyler on Tuesday, March 15. This will be their final meet before subsection. (Kim Friesen photo)
