THE MOUNTAIN LAKE Area (MLA) girls were in a nip-and-tuck game the entire way – and into OT – as they played Edgerton on-the-road on Tuesday, January 19, but came up short by three, the host Dutchmen nipping the Wolverines, 43 to 40 (the spread at the half was also a trio of points, Edgerton in front, 20-17). At the buzzer at the close of regulation, the game was knotted at 32. In the overtime stanza, the hosts pushed forward for the win. Senior guard Signey Stoesz tried all she could to keep MLA in contention, scoring 23 points. Senior forward Bailey Swanson nabbed eight boards. The Wolverines are now 7-5 overall. The squad, coached by Wayne Klassen, will play a home game on Saturday, January 23, against the Hills/Beaver Creek Patriots and remain at home for a Tuesday, January 26 match-up with Martin Luther. The club makes the trip to Ellsworth on Friday, January 29.
