THE DEFENSE OF the Mountain Lake Area (MLA) Wolverines Varsity Girls Basketball squad paced the team out to an 11-point halftime lead over their hosts, the Fulda Raiders, 32 to 21, and allowed them to extend that cushion in the second half. At the final buzzer, MLA held a 21-point margin, winning the contest. Senior Signey Stoesz topped all scorers with 33 Wolverine points, adding 10 rebounds and nabbing five steals. Another senior, Bailey Swanson, tallied seven points and eight boards. The Wayne Klassen-coached team is now 5-3 overall. Next up for the girls is a trip to St. James this Saturday, January 9 and then on Monday, January 11, is the rescheduled girls/boys doubleheader versus the Windom Eagles at Mountain Lake. For that game, the girls will tip-off at 6 p.m., followed by the boys game at 8 p.m.
