Local author, Diane Kay Dick, will kick-off the summer tour season at Heritage Village on Sunday afternoon, June 7, with a one-person drama presentation.

This open house will begin at 2:30 p.m. – and will feature faspa (German for “afternoon lunch).

Diane Kay Dick has authored several books, including an autobiography, children’s fiction and historical fiction. The research into her ancestry has led her to write a series of three books which she calls “The Journey Series.” The first book in this series, “A Mennonite Journey of Faith,” covers the four-to-10 generations prior to Diane’s generation. This book is set in Galicia, Austria and gives insight into their lives from 1774 to 1881. The sequel to this book, “Journey of a Minnesota Pioneer Family,” covers the years from 1881 to 1945, as Diane’s great-grandfather settles in Rosehill Township in Cottonwood County, Minnesota, and follows his family to the end of his life in 1945.                 Her third book in the series is set to be released in 2015.

From her research, Diane has developed several one-person dramas through which she shares stories from the lives of her ancestors. Her drama, “Settling on the Prairie,” shares the experiences of making a new home in Minnesota in the 1880s from the perspective of Diane’s great-grandmother, Margarete Kintzi Rupp.

Daily tours of Heritage Village are available from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., or by appointment.
