Wolverine girls basketball 2-0 after first week of season

Drop Adrian by 10 on-the-road

HEAD COACH WAYNE Klassen’s Mountain Lake Area (MLA) Wolverine girls basketball squad is out to a 2-0 start after the first week of the season. Building on their home-opener win on Tuesday over Alden-Conger, the Maroon-and-Silver went on-the-road to Adrian, and came home with a 10-point win, 48 to 38. Following the first half of play, MLA held a two-point margin, 23-21, and extended that cushion in the second half to claim the conference victory. Margo Stoesz hit for 20 points on the game and pulled down eight rebounds. Jenneel Rodney chipped in 10 points for the Wolverines. Marta Stoesz dished out five assists, nabbed a trio of steals and stuffed Adrian shooters with two blocks. For the host team, Paige Bullerman scored 18 points and Hannah Bullerman had 10 led Adrian. The Wolverines return to play next Tuesday, December 5 when they head to Slayton to take on Murray County Central (MCC).
