Road trip!

B-OES grades K-4 celebrate the holiday season ‘traveling’ country-to-country

Butterfield-Odin Public Elementary School (B-OES) students in grades kindergarten through four went on a holiday road trip – without ever leaving the area – during a program for the season on Tuesday night, December 5, in the school’s gymnasium.

Their “tour leader” was Sean Benz, Butterfield-Odin Public School (B-OPS) Vocal Music Director.

Through their vocal numbers, the students celebrated the holiday season “traveling” from country-to-country, including the countries of England, Germany, Italy, Africa, Mexico, France – in addition to the United States.

Below is a photo gallery from the elementary student’s holiday road trip:

THE KINDERGARTEN STUDENTS exuberated plenty of holiday enthusiasm throughout both of their songs – “Jingle Bells” and “Frosty the Snowman,” both from the United States. The kindergarteners pictured above include, from left, Aaliyah Sulflow, Melina Delgado-Garcia, Alan Barrios Orozco, Yanny Barrios Matias, Jackson Hanson, Taixamay Maokhamphio and Jocelyn Perez Marroquin.

“Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer,” from the United States, and “Joy to the World,” taken from English Christmas music, were the two numbers sung by the first grade. Above, from left, Jose Miranda Agustin, Vianey Villanueva, Kaleb Sanchez and Jason Cowell.

“Silent Night” – “Stille Nacht” in German – was the first number performed by the second grade. Second-graders captured in concert action above include, form left, Brody Fisch, Kimberly Tomas Agustin and Eric Perez Lopez.

CONNER PIERSON, LEFT, and Tucker Braaten, right, belt out the lyrics to the Italian Christmas song, “O Come All Ye Faithful.”

THROUGH THEIR HOLIDAY music, the B-OES third grade took a road trip to Africa (“A Kwanzaa Carol”) and Mexico (“Feliz Navidad”). Class members include, from left, Mason Menssen, Valeria Velasquez, Tayavia Maokhamphio, Martiza Miranda Garcia, Keny Garcia, Adin Perez Barrios and Torsten Loewen.

THE FOURTH GRADE students brought a bit of France to the program with “Angels We Have Heard On High,” before returning “home” to the United States with the selection, “Winter Wonderland.” Above, from left, Sophie Solheid, Samantha Quintanilla Rivera, Joel Sanchez-Delgado, Claudia Garza-Salazar, Shayla Bolte and Keyana Haler.

A KINDERGARTEN THROUGH grade four mass choir rendition of “We Wish You A Merry Christmas” capped off the program’s line-up.

VOCAL MUSIC DIRECTOR Sean Benz – nattily attired in appropriate (and colorful) snowman and Christmas tree-themed coat jacket, accented by a penguin and Christmas tree-filled necktie – accompanied the third grade’s song from Mexico, “Feliz Navidad,” on guitar. (Director Benz even has pants to match his jacket!)
