Top visiting Alden-Conger by a deuce in OT

 

OVERCOMING A FOUR-point deficit in overtime, the Mountain Lake Area (MLA) Wolverine girls basketball squad opened the 2017-2018 in exciting fashion, dropping Alden-Conger by two in the extra stanza, 61-59. During the OT, the Wolverines utilized the charity stripe to claim the victory. At the half, the MLA team, playing at home, held a six-point lead, 30-24. At the second-half buzzer, Alden-Conger’s Mikenna Erickson hit for two to tie the game at 52, sending it into OT. For the Wolverines, senior Margo Stoesz finished with 23 points to lead MLA scorers, while teammate Jenneel Rodney added 15 points and nine rebounds. Destiny “Tiny” Sybounheuan, at just 5′ 1,” grabbed eight boards. Erika Bute led Alden-Conger with 19 points, and Erickson had 13. Next up is an away trip to Adrian on Friday, December 1.
