A portion of Minnesota Highway #4 in downtown St. James has recently reopened to traffic.

The downtown mini-roundabout area construction work is now mostly complete and open to local traffic. Drivers are getting adjusted to moving through the pair of mini-roundabouts a block apart  – as well as the new back-in parking arrangements.

Construction on the highway from south of 10th Avenue South to 11th Avenue North began back in April.

Underground utility work and road base construction is also done for the year, with the focus turning to curb replacement and sidewalk construction.

The city says the railroad crossing will remain closed while crews continue work on Highway 4 north of the tracks.
