NEW MLES PRINCIPAL Jon Schwaegerl is prepping to take the lead at the school.

 

A new principal for Mountain Lake Public Elementary School (MLES) is transitioning into his position as the school’s leader, taking over for Karl Wassman following Wassman’s nine-year tenure as MLES principal. Prepping for this post is 34-year-old Jon Schwaegerl of Mankato. Schwaegerl was tapped in early April following a month-long search after the resignation of Wassman, effective at the close of this school year.

Schwaegerl, a native of Montevideo, comes to MLES after serving as a fifth-grade teacher for the Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial School District for the past nine years. Before that, he was a teacher for Maple River Public School for two years. Schwaegerl is begining his duties with the local public school district this monoth.

He earned his Bachelor Science in Elementary Education, along with a master’s degree in educational leadership and K-12 principal licensure from Minnesota State University-Mankato. Schwaegerl and his wife, Megan, are the parents of a 17-month-old daughter, Addison. Activities he enjoys are golfing, fishing and spending time with his family.
