Pow Wow Tuesday wraps up an excellent #83

Another layer added to celebration’s history

Pow Wow #83 wrapped up on Tuesday, June 20, adding another of history to the June celebration – the longest-running small town festival in Minnesota.

Here was Tuesday’s rundown (an article listing the raffle winners will be posted when compiled):

+ Medallion Hunt for Kids age 10 and under in Mountain Lake City Park at Poet Corn Wagon.

+ Midway (Midwest Rides) in Mountain Lake City Park.

+ Mountain Lake Area Booster Club Dunk Tank in Mountain Lake City Park.

+ Kids Pedal Tractor Pull down 10th Street.

+ Georgia’s Dance Elements performance on the Mountain Lake City Park Bandstand.

+ Mountain Lake Fire Department Water Fight on 10th Street.

+ Bob & The Beachcombers in concert on the Mountain Lake City Park Bandstand.

+ Raffle Drawing for $1,000 grand prize, two $500 cash prizes and other prizes donated by local businesses at the Mountain Lake City Park Bandstand.

DEBBIE RODNEY SERVED up Jamaican jerk chicken and barbecued ribs – plus additional entrees during Pow Wow.

 

THE SCENT OF drying onions wafting along with the summertime breeze is an integral part of Pow Wow – and Aaron Petersen in the Mountain Lake Christian Food Stand did his best to add to that atmosphere.

THIS PAIR OF Midway Rides employees thoroughly enjoyed their days in Mountain Lake. At left is Kyle Catalino, who operated the kids’ Corvette Ride and at right, Alyssa Berthiaume, who ran the Merry-Go-Round.

 

HATTIE KLASSEN OF Mountain Lake eagerly took to the pedals in the Kids Tractor Pull, brought to Mountain Lake by D & S Pedal Pulls of Fairmont.

 

THE EFFORT MICAH Fast of Windom put into his pull is written all over his face. His hard work paid off with a second-place finish in the 5-Year-Old Division.

 

WITH AN “AARRGGHH!,” John Wolle Boyd of Mountain Lake finished his pull. Wolle Boyd was third among the five-year-old competitiors.

 

2017 LITTLE MISS Mountain Lake Chloie Jensen of Mountain Lake gave her pull in the 8-Year-Old Division all that she had.

 

IAN RICHARDSON OF Mountain Lake flexed his muscles with a first-place run in the 9-Year-Old Division.

 

A GRIMACING JACOB Brandt of Mankato pulled the shifting weight load to third place in the 10-Year-Old Division.

 

BRIE ANACKER OF Butterfield was the lone girl competing in the 11-Year-Old Division.

 

PEDALING TO SECOND place in the 11-Year-Old Division was Chase Anacker of Mountain Lake.

 

KOLE HABERMAN OF Mountain Lake also competed in the 11-Year-Old Division. At back is Grant Regier of Mountain Lake, the winner of the age group. Sponsoring the annual pull were Midway Farm Equipment, Mike Spinks-Pioneer Hybrid Seeds, Brandon Fast-Mycogen Seed, United Prairie Bank-MountainLake, 3rd Avenue Auto Parts, Fast Seed and Precision, Town’s Edge Auto and Miller Sellner.

 

THE YOUNG DANCERS from Georgia’s Dance Elements took to the Mountain Lake City Park Bandstand on Tuesday afternoon to showcase their recital dances. Above, the Pre-Tap Class of, from left, Adleigh Olson, Annie Watson and Isabel Nelson performed to “Little Bitty Pretty One.” 

 

ONE OF THE DANCE soloists was Evalyn Luna. She is also part of the Free Movement 2 Group.

 

LEVEL THREE COMBINATION Class members Madison Hartle, left and Hailey Groebner, right, joined forces with dance to the song, “Shake The Room.” 

 

“ONE WAY – OR another – I’m gonna find you.” The Level One Combination Class – including above, Nevaeh Ott, left and Kelby Janzen, right – presented their dance to the number, “One Way Or Another.”

 

BRYN BELL, OF the the Level One Tap Class, had fun dancing to “Rockin’ Robin” (“Rockin’ robin. Rock. Rock. Rockin’ robin. Blow rockin’ robin. ‘Cause we’re really gonna rock tonight!”)

 

FREE MOVEMENT 2 Class members Camille Blom, left and Claire Adrian, right, shared the group’s dance routine to “Lollipop.”

 

MEMBERS OF MOUNTAIN Lake Fire & Rescue took their firefighting skills to the competition level with a Water Fight. The winning pair was the one who advanced the barrel to their opponents’ side of the liine.

 

ONE THE FIREFIGHTER duos to compete were Pat Oja, left and Taylor “Bubba” Nesmoe, right.

 

MOUNTAIN LAKE POLICE Department Officers Will Pohlman, leftand Emily Mathiowetz, right, took up the challenge to a Water Fight from Mountain Lake Fire & Rescue. Although the officers did put in a valiant effort in their new roles, the fire department twosome reigned as champs in each of the two match-ups.

 

TUESDAY NIGHT’S SPECIAL Pow Wow concert on the Mountain Lake City Park Bandstand featured the Minnesota group Bob & The Beachcombers – the Midwest’s #1 rock-and-roll beach party summertime band.

 

GROOVIN’ TO THE selection of Songs from the Sixties with a hula hoop party was Candice Bartel – along with a cadre of others with smooth moves.

 

ALSO TAKING THE opportunity to be a part of the beach party was Braxton Tollefson.

 

 

ATTEMPTING TO “HULA” with four hoops was challenging for Cameron Keosaykham.

 

 

THE GONDOLA on the Midwest Rides’ Screamer took its riders to an upside-down look at 10th Street at the height of its pendulum swing – a swing that spun forwards – and backwards.
