Class of 2017 collects local scholarships from program

Mountain Lake Area Scholarship Program presents awards

 

 

 

At local high school commencement exercises for the Class of 2017 – at Mountain Lake Public High School (MLHS) and Mountain Lake Christian (MLC) – the Mountain Lake Area Scholarship Program awarded a total of 13 scholarships to graduating seniors.

Presenting the awards at the MLHS ceremony was committee member David Grev, while committee member Wade Nelson did the honors at MLC’s exercises.

The total value of the scholarships was approximately $12,500. Awards are made on the basis of financial need, merit (scholastic and community involvement) and specifications named by the donors (future plans and employment history).

The specific scholarship earned, the recipient and their parent(s)/guardian(s) were as follows:

+ Louis O. & Elefta Rempel Scholarship, Gerald R. and Jennie Mack Engeman Scholarship, Tuesday/Iota Study Club Scholarship, Mountain Lke Area Scholarship Program Scholarship ($1,000) – Kassandra Tellez, daughter of Jose Luis Garnica and Rocio Garnica.

+ Mountain Lake Lion’s Club Scholarship ($1,000) – Aaron Fast, son of Tom and Marilyn Fast.

+ United Prairie Bank Scholarship, Butterfield VFW Scholarship and Mountain Lake Area Scholarship Program Scholarship ($1,000) – Kenna Gardiner, daughter of John and Cindy Gardiner.

+ United Prairie Bank Scholarship, Butterfield VFW Scholarship and Mountain Lake Area Scholarship Program Scholarship ($1,000) – Andrew Fast, son of Tom and Marilyn Fast.

+ Melvin T. and Frances A. Gustafson Scholarship ($1,000) – Thomas Kraemer, son of Ken and Becky Kraemer.

+ Cross-Cultural Outreach Committee Scholarship (Trinity Lutheran Church) and Mountain Lake Area Scholarship Program Scholarship ($1,000) – Karen Soutthivong, daughter of Sakoul and Chantha Soutthivong.

+ Mountain Lake Area Scholarship Program Scholarship ($1,000) – Jacob Suess, son of Dan and Charlotte Suess.

+ Ellyn Quiring Memorial Scholarship ($1,000) – Kalley Rempel, daughter of Bryan and Carolyn Rempel.

+ Freedom Riders Scholarship ($500) – Katherine Hofmann, daughter of Perry and Cheryl Hofmann.

+ Mountain Lake Education Association Scholarship ($1,000) – Samuel Grev, son of David and Kendra Grev.

+ Lee and Barb Loewen Scholarship ($1,000) – Jaden Hoek, daughter of Trent and Pam Hoek.

+ Country Pride Services Scholarship ($1,000) – Levi Stoesz, son of Burton and Karin Stoesz.

+Mt. Lake Fire & Rescue Relief Assocation Scholarship ($1,000) – Lexia Peters, daughter of Steve and Julie Peters.
