Section 3A East Track and Field competition held Thursday

Number of MLA girls, boys earn section berths

 

 

The Mountain Lake Area (MLA) Wolverine Boys and Girls Track and Field teams, under Head Coach Scott Boelke, competed in the Section 3A East Track and Field Meet at Redwood Falls yesterday (Thursday, May 25), with a number of participants earning berths in the Section 3A meet, slated for Thursday, June 1, in Pipestone.

On the girls side of the meet, the Wovlerines finished eighth with 44 points. Redwood Valley claimed the team title with 168 points.

The MLA boys were fifth with 68 team points. The Redwood Valley boys won the title with 162 points.

The top four finishers in each individual event and top two relay teams automatically move on to section. The remaining section qualifiers in each track and field event are determined on an at-large basis, combining the results of the three sub-sections. The top four results, plus any ties, in each event advance as an at-large.

Following are the official qualifiers from Section 3A East:

Wolverine Girls Track and Field Section 3A Qualifying Results

+ Jenneel Rodney – third in the discus with a toss of 98′ 11½” inches and third in the shot put with a throw of 34′ 2.”

+ Liana Blomgren – third in the 1,600-meter run with a time of 5:51.73.

+ Emily Jahnke – fourth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 18.21 and fourth in the 300-meter hurdles with 51.34.

+ Marta Stoesz – tie for fourth in the high jump with a jump of 4′ 8.”

+ Brook Sunderman – fourth in the 800-meter run with 2:33.58.

 

Wolverine Boys Track and Field Section 3A Qualifying Results

+ Reynaldo Capetillo – second in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.44 and second in the 400-meter dash with 50.96.

 

+ Sam Paulson – third in the triple jump with a jump of 38′ 8.”

+ Tommy Kraemer – fourth in the 800-meter run, 2:23.59.

+ Ruben Fentanez – fourth in the shot put with a throw of 41′ 2½.”

+ Joel Salgado – fourth in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 19.08.

+ AJ Vongsy, Kris Menken, Paulson and Capetillo – second in the 4 x 200 relay with a time of 1:37.33
