MLC High School Spring Program celebrates the season

Featured High School Band/Choir, Basura Beats, Worship Team, Solos/Duets/Trios

 

Mountain Lake Christian (MLC) Grades 7-12 held a Spring Program this evening, (Friday, May 19), in the school’s Music Room.

The concert featured the high school choir and band, the Basura Beats (the trash can percussion group), the MLC Worship Team and students solos, duets and trios – both vocal and instrumental.

Leading the high school musicians (instrumental and vocal) was MLC Music Director Aaron Petersen.

The evening’s performance rundown was as follows:

+ Basura Beats –

  • “Can-O-Rama” (from Metal Worx), by Cockarell.
  • “Can-Uh-Bulls” (from Metal Worx), by Cockarell.

+ High School Band –

  • Apache,” by Lordan.

+ Offertory Music –

  • “Christ is Risen,” by Fieldes/Maher, performed by Miriam Rete, Zoey Smith and Sofía Solóranza.

+ High School Choir –

  • “Prayer of the Children,” by Bestor/Hayes. (The song was written out of frustration over the horrendous civil war and ethnic cleansing taking place in the former country of Yugoslavia in the 1970s. It was written for the Serbian, Croatian and Bosnian children who all felt the same feelings of confusion and sadness in this time of turmoil.)
  • “Fill-A-Me Up,” by Choplin, with featured soloist Zadok Ford.

+ Vocal Solo –

  • “Amarilli mia Bella,” by Caccini, presented by Zoey Smith.

+ MLC Worship Team (featuring vocal quintet of Katelyn Fast, Paige Riihl, Zoe Smith, Eli Johnson and Aaron Petersen – accompanyig the group on guitar) –

  • “Our God Saves,” by Baloche/Brown.
  • “How Great Is Our God,” by Tomlin/Reeves/Cash.

+ High School Band –

  • “Canticle of Celebrations,” by Johnson.
  • “Alleluia,” by Del Borgo.

+ Vocal Solo –

  • “Taylor the Latte Boy,” by Heisler/Goldrich, performed by Danica Dick.

+ Piano Duet –

  • Frozen Medley,” by Anderson-Lopez/Lopez, presented by Summer Janzen and Riley Schroeder.

+ High School Choir –

  • “Old Time Religion Medley,” from Traditional Spirituals, featuring soloist Katelyn Fast.
  • “Fly Away Medley,” by Hayes, featuring vocal trio of Danica Dick, Eli Johnson and Zoey Smith.

+ Vocal Solo –

  • “Caro Mio Ben,” by Giordani, performed by Paige Riihl.

+ High School Choir –

  • “Because He Lives,” by Maher.

Honored at the close of the concert were the three MLC Class of 2017 seniors – Danica Dick, Katelyn Fast and Levi Stoesz.
